God – God is complex. He is before all things, created all things, and rules over all things. God exists as three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God the Father is the creator and ruler of all. Jesus, His son, is our path to salvation. The Holy Spirit helps us to interact with God as we read our Bible, pray, and live in community with others. Colossians 1:15-18, Deuteronomy 6:4, 2 Corinthians 13:14
People – We are created by God to live in relationship with Him but we chose to disobey. Because of our disobedience we are separated from Him. Genesis 1:26-31, Genesis 3
Salvation – Salvation is a gift from God for ALL people. Any person who calls on the name of Jesus, repents of their sin, and asks for forgiveness will be be saved. God loves people so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. Because of His perfect sacrifice, we are able to live in a redeemed relationship with God. Romans 1:16, 2 Peter 3:9, John 3:16,
Grace – It is by grace alone that we are saved. No amount of good deeds, accolades, or accomplishments can bring sinners into right standing with God. Because God knew we couldn’t make right on our own He made a way through His Son, Jesus. Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5
The Bible – The Bible is a story written by people but inspired by God to tell of His amazing love for all people everywhere. The Bible is a book that can lead us to know God’s will and how to live a life that honors Him. 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:19
Eternity – God promises an eternity with Him for all who trust Him as Lord and Savior. We can’t be sure what Heaven will be like but we know it will be free of pain and suffering and our knowledge of God will be made complete. Romans 6:23, John 5:24, Revelation 21:4, 1 Corinthians 13:12
The Church – God intends people to live in community. A church is a group of believers who worship together and serve each other and their community. Participation in a church provides accountability and support through all seasons of life. 1 Corinthians 12-13, Acts 2:44-47
Discipleship – As believers we have been commissioned by Jesus to make disciples. It is the individual responsibility of believers and a collective responsibility of the church. Leaders can model the life of a disciple by allowing God to transform us as we grow in obedience to God, wisdom and spiritual discipline, and service to others. Matthew 28:19-20, Titus 2:1-8
The Family – God designed families to be a place of comfort, support, and learning. Parents cast a child’s first glimpse of God as we express love and care for our children by meeting their many needs. As children grow, the family is the primary source of discipleship, teaching children not just to obey us, but to obey God and spend time with Him by reading the Bible, through prayer, worship, and service to others. Ephesians 5:1-2, Ephesians 6, Genesis 5, Proverbs 22:6
